The AUB Utility Tunnel project, delivered for the American University of Beirut (AUB), was a strategic infrastructure upgrade designed to streamline and secure the distribution of essential electro-mechanical systems across the campus.
Spanning from December 2010 to July 2011, and completed under the consultancy of AME, the project focused on the construction and MEP outfitting of a dedicated utilities tunnel beneath the university grounds in Beirut, Lebanon. With a contract value of $450,000 USD, MEMO was entrusted with the complete MEP scope, ensuring robust and efficient utility management for years to come.
Systems Installed by MEMO:
Chilled Water Piping
Steam Piping
Firefighting Network
Domestic Water Supply
Mechanical Ventilation
Fire Alarm System
Building Management System (BMS)
Lighting and Power Distribution
The tunnel enables secure and centralized routing of critical services, significantly reducing surface-level interventions and improving long-term maintenance capabilities. MEMO’s work involved detailed coordination, precision installation in confined underground spaces, and integration with existing campus systems—all executed within a tight timeframe and active university environment.
This project reflects MEMO’s expertise in institutional infrastructure, especially in complex, operational environments where reliability and technical precision are paramount.
