In the world of healthcare, precision, reliability, and efficiency aren’t just goals — they’re non-negotiable. In 2014, MEMO took on a mission-critical role in shaping the future of one of Lebanon’s most renowned medical institutions: the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC). Tasked with the full MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) installation for the new Academic and Clinical Center, MEMO delivered a turnkey solution designed to meet the strictest healthcare standards.
With a contract value of USD 8.2 million, the project called for more than just technical expertise — it demanded a deep understanding of hospital operations and the ability to integrate complex systems into a high-performance facility. The result? A seamless, robust infrastructure supporting both medical care and academic excellence.
Scope of Work & Systems Installed
From chilled water systems and cooling towers to power distribution and pressure-controlled environments, MEMO handled every detail of the project’s core infrastructure. The full scope included:
Chilled water system
Cooling towers
Steam system
HVAC
Plumbing and sanitation
Firefighting system
Mechanical Control Centers (MCCs) for power distribution
Positive and negative pressure control in private rooms
Carbon monoxide monitoring system
These systems were carefully designed and implemented to ensure uninterrupted operation, precise climate control, patient safety, and energy efficiency — all critical components in any modern medical facility.
By the time the final system was commissioned, MEMO had not only fulfilled its contract — it had contributed to the foundation of a facility that supports world-class care, research, and education. Today, the AUBMC Academic and Clinical Center stands as a testament to the power of engineering done right.
